Music has been in the background of my life for as long as I can remember. From Earth, Wind & Fire to Stevie Wonder, there has never been a time when a certain song doesn't evoke a mood or memory. Spiritually speaking, music has allowed me to engage the Lord in a way that is intimate and life-changing! Music moves...
Stevie Wonder "Love's in need of love!", Luther Vandross "If Only for One Night", Fred Hammond "Give me a clean heart."
Prince, Rakim, Stevie Wonder
1999, Paid in Full, Rapture (Anita Baker), September (EWF), Songs in the Key of Life. How do you keep real music alive?
My iPod is always with me...I rarely listen to the radio, because I believe that we have lost our musical integrity and talent in recent years. Hip Hop is the greatest victim of this materialistic driven culture, and R & B simply lacks people who can sing without a studio! So, my iPod is always with me to keep me in sync with sounds that have substance! I am also introducing my son (Nicolas) to a sounds that are timeless: Jazz, Hip Hop, and Worship Music...
"I've been so many places in my life and time. I've sung a lot of songs, I've made some bad rhymes. I've acted out my life in stages, with 10,000 people watching...but we're alone now and I'm singing this song to you."
Music is truly the greatest of the Arts. With it's unyielding ability to charm the soul, music stands alone in its ability to influence. Music has been used as an instrument to channel happiness, pain and even provide secret messages to free the enslaved. I too am a testament to such an experience. I was raised by a musician in Mississippi. Growing up, my father would often play the piano, guitar, and saxophone. Thus, it is the ability to take me to a place of happiness…Music is my opium.Favorite Song...
Human Nature- The feeling expressed and the lyrics are genius! As a child I fell in love with the chorus and its counterpoint.
Boyz II Men, because of their ability to fill the music with various chords with out an instrumental accomplice.Top 5 Albums...
1. Thriller- Michael Jackson
2. II- Boyz II Men
3. Miracle at St. Anna Soundtrack- Terence Blanchard
4. The Black Album- Jay Z
5. Graduation- Kanye West
I keep real music alive promoting and buying the classics.

Music is important to me because it fuels life. It brings happiness to those who need it, it passes time when it is needed. It is almost like the word m'fer. You can use it for just about anything. You can paint a picture, you can go to another place, you can fall in love, you can "get high" from music, etc. etc.Favorite Song...
I honestly don't have one. I like songs that inspire me. Since you said one I say none.Favorite Musician...
Michael Jackson. Why, I could just say he made "Thriller" and be done but the guy doesn't have one song that does not transcend time. The guy does not have one song that can not unite men and women from every walk of life. A true humanitarian. His way of life made it possible to make the music he made. We hear artist describe themselves as not being from earth now. Michael Jackson was living so far away from us he was able to see things from different lenses. He may not have written the music he performed in it's entirety but he was able to perform it the way he did because of his frightfulness.Top 5 Albums...
Michael Jackson- "Off the Wall"
Juvenile- "400 Degreez"
T.I. - "Urban Legend"
John P. Kee "The Essential John P. Kee"
Lil KeKe- "Don't Mess With Texas"
I help keep real music alive by only listening to and supporting what I regard as "real music". Beauty is in the eye of the beholder as "real music" is in the ear of the beholder.
